Emergency services lock down busy Scots street amid building fire in city centre

Fireplace crews and police closed down a busy Edinburgh avenue after a blaze broke out at a property.

The Scottish Fireplace and Rescue Service have been known as to the scene on Lauriston avenue shortly earlier than 7.45pm on Friday, December 23.

A cordon was put in place, close to the junction with Excessive Riggs, as first responders handled the incident, Edinburgh Reside experiences.

4 home equipment have been known as to the scene alongside officers from Police Scotland.

The blaze isn't being handled as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson mentioned: “Round 7.55pm on Friday, 23 December, 2022, officers have been known as to a report of a fireplace on Lauriston Avenue, Edinburgh.

“Inquiries have been carried out and the hearth isn't being handled as suspicious.”
