Former Renfrewshire councillor sadly passes away following period of illness

A former Labour councillor has handed away following a “interval of sickness.”

Jim Sheridan was a passionate councillor who was well-known inside the space for his dedication.

He has sadly died aged 69.

In an e mail issued to native councillors the chief government of Renfrewshire Council knowledgeable Jim’s former colleagues of his passing.

Alan Russel wrote: “I'm very sorry to share the unhappy information that our former councillor and colleague Jim Sheridan has handed away following a interval of sickness.

“Jim was a real household man and for a few years was devoted to championing Renfrewshire as an MP, an area councillor, and latterly as Deputy Chief for Renfrewshire Labour.

“Our ideas are with Jim’s spouse Jean, his household and buddies, and all those that labored intently with him on the council.”

Jim was MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, previously known as Renfrewshire West, from 2001 to 2015.

He first served on Renfrewshire Council in 1999, representing the previous Erskine Central ward.

5 years in the past, he gained the Labour ticket for Houston, Crosslee and Linwood.

Earlier than coming into politics he labored in shipyards from 1970 to 1978, then as a printer for the Paisley Day by day Categorical from 1978 to 1984.
