A witness advised Lanarkshire Stay : "I wakened at 3.45 am this morning there was one fireplace engine there and by half 4 there have been three fireplace engines and an ambulance.

A Scottish Hearth and Rescue Service spokeswoman advised us : “We had been alerted at 3.43am this morning to reviews of a fireplace in a dwelling in Kirk Avenue, Strathaven.
