The inaugural Renfrew Pipe Band Competition begins today and an MSP has praised the event at Holyrood

With the inaugural Renfrew Pipe Band Competitors set to get underway immediately the efforts of its organisers and members have been praised in parliament.

The occasion is happening in Robertson Park between midday and 5pm and it'll see pipe bands from throughout the nation competing in opposition to each other.
