Hamilton Accies chairman Allan Maitland says John Rankin is the 'excellent match' for the membership as he is available in as head coach.
The New Douglas Park membership formally launched Rankin to the media this afternoon, having appointed the 39-year-old on Tuesday.
Former Dundee United and Hibs midfielder Rankin has a wealth of expertise, and spent four-and-a-half years at Hearts as a coach earlier than coming in as assistant to Stuart Taylor in December.
Taylor parted firm with the membership final week, with Rankin seemingly the apparent selection.
Maitland says it presents continuity to the membership as they bid for promotion from the Championship.
He stated: "John has been with us since December and helped us get by way of to the tip of the season.
