Steve Coogan U-turns on independence saying it would be 'kick in pants to little Englanders'

Steve Coogan has revealed he might have modified his views on Scottish independence after the UK left the European Union.

The actor and comic was certainly one of round 200 celebrities who signed a letter within the run-up to the referendum in 2014 urging Scots to vote 'No'.

Within the Brexit referendum Scotland voted 62 per cent in favour of remaining within the EU, whereas the UK as a complete voted to depart in 2016.

Throughout an interview on the BBC to advertise his new Alan Partridge dwell tour Coogan was requested his views on independence.

He stated: "I can completely perceive the will for Scottish independence.

"In reality, I'll have shifted my place. That’s one thing I’m processing as a half-English, half-Irishman.

"I don’t really feel as strongly as I did…due to the change in circumstances.

"I might completely perceive it. Part of me appears like, you realize, it could be a kick within the pants for these type of small-minded little Englanders, to be sincere.

"It’s humorous as a result of on the one hand I’m pro-European.

"When Brexit occurred I used to be pondering of transferring to Scotland. That’s what I felt."
