Stewartry residents urged to donate clothes and medicine to help Ukrainians

Stewartry residents are being requested to donate garments and medication to assist individuals in Ukraine.

There was an outpouring of help throughout Scotland for Ukrainians following Russia’s invasion of the nation final week, with individuals eager to assist nevertheless they'll.

The Ukraine Chapel on the former Halmuir POW camp close to Lockerbie is organising a set of things– from heat garments and toiletries to duvets and blankets – to take out on the weekend.

And Nicole Geddes from Dalbeattie is providing to take donations from the Stewartry via on Saturday.

She mentioned: “There’s a set going via from Lockerbie, which is sort of far-off, so I’m gathering issues right here and taking them via.

“They're searching for blankets, infants’ issues, nappies, medication and garments for adults and infants.

“If individuals drop it off between now and Friday I can take it via.”

Donations may be left at The Maxwell Arms in Dalbeattie – run by Nicole’s dad Drew – at the moment and tomorrow.

And the youth membership corridor in Creetown might be open from 6.30pm to eight.45pm tonight for anybody trying to make donations there.

There was a present of help in Kirkcudbright on Monday evening with the Johnston Centre lit up in blue and yellow – the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
