Not every first-round NFL draft pick lives up to their potential, or the high investment a team makes in them. But for one former first rounder, his struggles are reportedly starting to frustrate his team.
According to CBS NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the Pittsburgh Steelers are not pleased with how linebacker Devin Bush, the former No. 10 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, is developing. Per the report ” things are not trending in a positive direction for Bush.”
“The Steelers leveraged significant draft capital and went counter to their usual draft process to move up 10 picks to select Devin Bush 10th overall in 2019, but frustration with Bush’s development are becoming more obvious.
The Steelers traded up in the 2019 NFL Draft to acquire the former Michigan superstar. But despite a solid rookie season, Bush’s play has plateaued over the past two years.

As a rookie in 2019, Devin Bush looked like he would quickly be a cornerstone of the Steelers defense. He had 109 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two interceptions, four passes defended and four fumble recoveries.
But a serious knee injury plus the COVID-19 pandemic limited Bush to just five games in 2020. He’s been healthy this year, but reportedly hasn’t become the on-field general that the team wanted him to be.
The Steelers will have to choose whether to pick up Bush’s fifth-year option this coming offseason. If he’s struggling as much as La Canfora says he is, it may be a tougher decision than some fans might think.
