The Cincinnati Bearcats just became the first Group of Five program to make the College Football Program. But what did conference rival UCF have to say about Cincy’s entry (one that they were denied back in 2017)?
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, the UCF Football official Twitter account offered congratulations to Cincinnati. But they decided to be a little cheeky about it, posting a photoshopped image of Michael Jordan (UCF) shaking hands and hugging Larry Bird (Cincinnati) as Boise State looks on in the background.
Much like Cincinnati, UCF went undefeated in the 2017 regular season en route to winning the AAC Championship. They were left out of the College Football Playoff, which instead gave a spot to one-loss Alabama.
UCF went on to beat Auburn in the Peach Bowl, finishing at 13-0. The school declared themselves national champions afterwards, and were acknowledged as such by the state of Florida and the Colley Matrix champion selector.

Boise State was in this exact position before either of them though.
In 2006 and 2009 the Broncos went undefeated in the regular season, but were snubbed for the BCS National Championship Game.They went on to beat TCU and Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl to cap off both seasons undefeated.
UCF and Boise State walked so that Cincinnati could run.
Hopefully the Bearcats do well enough in the College Football Playoff to justify future Group of Five selections in the tournament.
