Ukrainian refugees dwelling in and across the Glenkens have been having fun with seeing the sights – because of the generosity of locals.
Dalry man Paul Goodwin is internet hosting a Ukrainian household and thought it could be a good suggestion give them and others dwelling regionally the possibility to get out and about.
He approached Glenkens Group Transport for the mortgage of a minibus for day journeys and secured a grant from Glenkens Group Store in Dalry.
Glen Murray at GCT kindly waived the set-up price and the store generously agreed to help the scheme.
And since then common excursions have been organized – with Paul and different volunteer drivers behind the wheel.
5 minibus day journeys in all have been organized for Ukrainian refugees staying in and across the Glenkens – with the most recent being a go to to the Christmas Market in Carlisle.
Paul informed the Information: “A complete of twenty-two Ukrainian folks benefited from the journeys. We’ve been to Dumfries for buying and a go to to Dock Park, Kirkcudbright, the Isle of Whithorn and Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow.
“I believe genuinely thy are fairly shocked – you do sense that they don’t fairly perceive that it’s free.
