Armed cops in six hour Christmas Day standoff at Scots house after ‘disturbance’

A person has been arrested after armed police had been known as to experiences of a ‘disturbance’ at a property in Fife on Christmas morning which resulted in a six hour standoff.

Uniformed officers locked down Memorial Highway in Methil shortly after 9am on December 25 after the alarm was raised.

A video from the scene reveals two armed police making an attempt to enter a property on the street whereas a 3rd officer, who was additionally carrying a gun, stood guard.

The incident, which left neighbours involved, lasted greater than six hours earlier than a 47-year-old was peacefully arrested.

Police Scotland have confirmed that he has now been charged and is because of seem at courtroom at a later date. No accidents had been reported.

A press release from the pressure mentioned: “Round 9.10am on Sunday, 25 December, 2022, police had been known as to a report of a disturbance and concern for a person at a property on Memorial Highway, Methil.

“Officers attended and, round 3.50pm, a 47-year-old man was peacefully arrested. He was charged and is predicted to look in courtroom at a later date.

“There have been no accidents or menace to the broader group.”
