An owl was rescued after its wing turned trapped in a discarded fishing line in a canal in Edinburgh.
A member of Edinburgh restoration charity The Sorted Mission was on a canal boat after they noticed the stricken chicken hanging over the water in Ratho on Monday. They managed to untangle the distressed animal from the wire and referred to as the Scottish SPCA who despatched an officer out to satisfy the barge.
The drained owl was saved in a field with a sizzling water bottle. It made a full restoration and was later launched however the SSPCA has issued a warning for individuals fishing within the canal.
Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer, Catherine Atterton, stated: “I obtained a report of an owl trapped in a discarded fishing line subsequent to Union Canal.
"The caller was passing by on their canal boat and noticed the animal in misery.
“Fortunately, they managed to free the owl and had been protecting the chicken safe on their boat till I arrived.
“After I obtained there I examined the chicken and managed to take away the remainder of the fishing line from their left wing. Fortunately it didn't trigger any apparent accidents. The poor animal was simply exhausted from the entire ordeal.
“I let the owl relaxation for some time with a sizzling water bottle. After regaining their power, I launched them again into the wild.
“I wish to thank the caller for serving to the chicken and bringing this to our consideration.
“Sadly this isn't an remoted incident. Fishing or roping line could cause life-threatening accidents to animals and we ask anyone utilizing this gear to please be sure that they take this away with them and discard it in a protected method.

The Sorted Mission thanked the SSPCA and seemed again on what was an eventful afternoon for his or her new volunteers.
Talking on Fb a spokesperson stated: "We noticed an owl in misery, hanging from a discarded fishing line.
"With cautious talent and epic teamwork, we managed to chop the owl free and supply some heat and shelter on our approach again to Ratho till a member of the Scottish SPCA staff arrived. Thanks!
"With the tangled fishing line eliminated, the owl appeared a lot happier, though utterly exhausted."
