Rangers icon Ally McCoist believes the decision to award a penalty for handball in opposition to Celtic defender Alexandro Bernabei is the newest "scandalous" VAR determination to hit Scottish soccer.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou did not maintain again over his fears over video know-how and the size of time it takes for a closing determination to be reached between the match official and the management room analysing the large calls. Dundee United had been awarded a spot kick after Steven Fletcher's header was adjudged a spot kick for handball in opposition to Bernabei. McCoist wasn't having it however fellow pundit Kris Boyd reckons it was the correct name from VAR after liaising with referee David Dickinson.
Boyd, talking on Sky Sports activities, mentioned: "It did Joe Hart a favour, it gave him a chance to avoid wasting as a result of it was going into the again of the web. All day lengthy, he (Bernabei) saved it, he saved it. It was going into the again of the web." However McCoist interjected and strongly disagreed along with his fellow Ibrox hero. He mentioned: "Can I carry a little bit of sanity into this? If we're given penalties for that then the sport is gone. Among the choices we have seen for handballs, north and south of the border, are completely scandalous."
