The Ulster Unionist Social gathering has paid tribute following the loss of life of former MLA and councillor Ken Robinson.
Mr Robinson, who was 80, was elected to the previous Newtownabbey council in 1997. He was additionally elected to the Meeting, representing East Antrim, in 1998 and was subsequently re-elected in 2003 and 2007. He stepped down in 2011.
Alderman Mark Cosgrove, the UUP group chief on Antrim & Newtownabbey Council, led tributes.

“Ken was a really pleasant and personable man who was extremely regarded by Council and Stormont colleagues throughout all events and by the voters.
“Ken had a earlier profession as a trainer and faculty principal, was a eager soccer fan — notably of Glentoran FC — and was a member of the Orange Order.
Mr Cosgrove concluded: “On behalf of the Ulster Unionist Social gathering I want to ship my deepest condolences to Ken’s household and his many buddies, at this unhappy time.”
