Tragedy as woman dies in early morning Kilmarnock house fire

A lady has died in an Ayrshire home hearth.

The 62-year-old was pronounced lifeless by emergency providers in Kilmarnock on Monday after a property burst into flames within the early hours of the morning.

Two males had been assessed by paramedics on the scene on Blacksyke Avenue in Shortlees.

Police have confirmed that there does not look like any suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: "We had been known as round 2.20am on Monday, October 3, 2022 to a report of a fireplace at a property in Blacksyke Avenue, Kilmarnock.

"Emergency providers attended and a 62-year-old girl was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

"Two males, aged 36 and 67, had been checked over by paramedics on the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the reason for the hearth however there don't look like any suspicious circumstances.

"A report will probably be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
