Scots holidaymakers caught up in Egypt terror ‘blast’ caused by dodgy air con

A Scots household fled an Egyptian lodge amid fears of a terror blast solely to be taught it had been attributable to defective air con.

Alistair Fields, 42, and his spouse Jennifer, 42, and 4 kids had been on the pool space after they heard what seemed like an explosion at Parrotel aqua resort in Sharm El Sheikh.

The town was the positioning of a terror assault in 2005 when bombings killed 88 folks, together with 11 British victims.

Alistair, of East Kilbride, mentioned: “There was some type of explosion with particles flying metres away from us. It was very loud.

“Panic set in. Two employees members ran by and we requested them if it was a bomb. They mentioned, ‘Sure, sure, bomb, bomb’. About half an hour later employees informed me an aircon system exploded.”

A Solar­ Worldwide rep moved them to a different lodge and so they got a refund of £1679, however they needed ­compensation for the trauma suffered on the £6150 all-inclusive vacation.

Solar Worldwide blamed a damaged aircon compressor. The Fields’ journey agent, On The Seaside, was requested to remark.
