Rare photographs of The Beatles playing at Liverpool’s Cavern Club uncovered

Two uncommon pictures of The Beatles taking part in on the Cavern Membership in Liverpool have been found.

The pictures have been captured in July 1961, over a yr earlier than the band launched their debut single Love Me Do.

They present John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney on the microphone, with George Harrison on guitar and a partially obscured Pete Greatest, the group’s unique drummer.

Beatles historian and writer Mark Lewisohn mentioned: “Set inside Liverpool’s cramped and dank Cavern Membership, these beforehand unseen photographs seize The Beatles taking part in for a lunchtime or night viewers in July 1961.

“Simply again from Hamburg – slogging 500 stage hours in 90 days – The Beatles are whippet-thin under-nourished lads of 20 (John), 19 (Paul and Pete), and 18 (George).

“So slender has this marathon made them, it’s as if their heads and our bodies are stranger. A glance emphasised by the weird garments – leather-based trousers and cotton tops. No different photographs present them dressed this manner.

“Three months from right here, John and Paul went to Paris and returned with what grew to become referred to as ‘The Beatle haircut’.

“Days later, Brian Epstein noticed The Beatles within the Cavern, provided to grow to be their supervisor and set them on (a) course that modified our world.”

To mark the sixtieth anniversary of Love Me Do’s launch, Chorley-based vendor Tracks Ltd is providing free uncommon music memorabilia valuations.

The valuation day takes place at The Beatles Story exhibition at Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock from 11am-6pm on October 5.
