Cyclist hospitalised after being struck by van in 'hit and run' on Lothian road

Police Scotland are searching the driving force of a white van after a bicycle owner was rushed to hospital following an alleged 'hit and run' incident in East Lothian. Emergency companies rushed to the A6094 Salters Highway between Whitecraig and Wallyford shortly after 6.50am on Thursday, 29 October, following studies of a collision.

Officers say the van struck the bicycle owner earlier than fleeing within the path of the A1 junction at Wallyford. A 28-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with severe accidents.

The van is described as being small and white. It's believed to have had a faulty nearside entrance headlight.

Officers are asking anybody who can help with their enquiries to get in contact.

Constable Simon Ramsay of the Highway Policing Unit in Dalkeith stated: “Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and I'd urge anybody who believes they can establish the van to get in contact.

“We might even be eager to talk to anybody who was on the street round that point and will have dashcam footage.

“Anybody who might help is requested to name 101, quoting reference 0376 of 29 September.
