A 92-year-old race automobile with mysterious hyperlinks to Ayrshire is coming ‘dwelling’.
The 1930 Aston Martin, often known as LM4, can be on show outside- Belleisle Home in Ayr on the morning of Tuesday, September 27.
And an Aston Martin historian, together with a genealogist, intention to uncover the automobile’s historical past – and its affiliation with the area.
Aston Martin historian Steve Waddingham takes up the story: “The automobile, often known as LM4, was an Aston Martin staff racing automobile in-built 1930.
“After its racing profession with the Aston Martin manufacturing facility, LM4 was bought to its first personal proprietor, Henry Leeson, in 1931.
“Mr Leeson bought the automobile a number of months later to Rolland Cookson, a younger businessman from the north of England.
“For causes nonetheless unknown, Mr Cookson gave his tackle as ‘Belleisle Home, Ayr’ in October 1931.
“As to why he gave Belleisle Home as his tackle, we're not positive.”
