Two males have been charged after the police bomb squad was scrambled to an Ayrshire marina yesterday, after an allegedly suspicious merchandise was discovered on a ship.
Cops, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers and HM Coastguard crews scrambled to Largs Yacht Haven on Irvine Highway in Ayrshire after receiving the alarm at 3.30pm.
The marina was evacuated as a precaution whereas the location was locked down and sealed off by police.
Police Scotland mentioned in the present day two males had been charged in reference to the alleged incident and are because of seem at Kilmarnock Sheriff Courtroom in the present day.
Inspector Barry Walker mentioned: “At round 3.30pm on Sunday, September 11, we had been referred to as to Largs Yacht Haven, Irvine Highway, Largs, to a report of an merchandise discovered on a ship.
“The realm was evacuated as a precaution and there was no hazard to the broader public. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended and the merchandise was deemed not viable.
"Two males aged 40 and 23 have been arrested and charged in reference to the incident and are because of seem at Kilmarnock Sheriff Courtroom on Monday, September 12, 2022.”
HM Coastguard and Largs Yacht Haven have been approached for remark.
