Strike motion at Derry Metropolis and Strabane Council has ended after Unite the Union confirmed their members have accepted a brand new pay supply.
In an announcement on Tuesday morning, the union stated staff had voted 63% in favour to simply accept an improved council pay supply.
They stated the deal features a one-off cost of £500 and a totally consolidated pay improve value 5%.
Sharon Graham from Unite stated: “Derry Metropolis and Strabane staff have gained a substantial pay supply over the naked 1.75% pay improve provided nationally.
“That is now the second council in Northern Eire the place staff have gained a good pay improve via strike motion. Unite the union is delivering on our promise to defend the roles, pay and situations of our members.”
Gareth Scott from the union added: “Council staff continued to work all through the pandemic to make sure fundamental companies for the general public had been maintained – sadly these staff had been left with no possibility however to strike to win a good pay improve.
“Strike motion is all the time a final resort and no employee enters into it frivolously.
“This pay enchancment demonstrates the unity and energy of our membership in Derry Metropolis and Strabane and this can stand our members in good stead going ahead.”
