Nancy Harrison celebrates 105th birthday as one of NI’s oldest residents reveals her secrets to a long and happy life

Certainly one of Northern Eire’s oldest residents has revealed her secrets and techniques to an extended and affluent life — and a few readers could also be delighted to listen to that it includes the occasional drop of sherry.

East Belfast girl Nancy Harrison celebrated her a hundred and fifth birthday yesterday, surrounded by household on the luxurious Culloden Lodge.

Ms Harrison stated it “meant so much to her” to be with household who she described as being “completely fantastic”, including that it's usually “very uncommon to get all of them collectively on the someday”.

Her daughter Susan, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren had been unable to attend as they dwell in Australia, although Ms Harrison was fast to level out that they had been on the cellphone very first thing that morning and that it’s “pretty to listen to from them”.

Chatting with the Belfast Telegraph, her granddaughter Hayley stated they had been “all so fortunate to be right here as we speak” and that she’s most impressed by Nancy’s upbeat perspective.

Ms Harrison is a resident of Towell Home care house in east Belfast the place she says she has a “very comfortable time” and is grateful to the entire employees who take care of her and her wants every single day.

Hayley believes it’s her grandmother’s constructive perspective that has carried her via to see the age of 105.

“Additionally the truth that she has lived a really comfortable life along with her husband David they usually had been married for greater than 50 years,” she added. While it's custom to obtain a birthday message from Queen Elizabeth II upon turning 100, Nancy acquired her second card this weekend which she thought was a “very nice” gesture.

The household loved a birthday celebration of afternoon tea and champagne, though Nancy most well-liked to go for a sherry, which is her tipple of selection.

When requested if she had any ideas for longevity, her reply was easy: “Reside your life the best way you need to… Be comfortable.”
