A mobility scooter consumer has been rescued after falling into a large gap within the pavement in a Co Down city centre.
The severe incident occurred on Newry Road in Banbridge on Saturday afternoon.
The person was taken to hospital after he turned trapped within the gap which has been described as an “open excavation” by a neighborhood councillor.
Brian Pope attended the scene to supply his help.
“Sadly there was a severe incident involving a mobility scooter,” he posted on social media.
“A person and an open utility trench in Newry Road in Banbridge this afternoon.
“My ideas are with the person who has now been taken to hospital.”
The Alliance consultant has subsequently contacted the utility firm liable for the ditch.
“I've spoken together with his household, the emergency providers and contacted the utility firm concerned,” he wrote on Fb.
