Greater Manchester Police stated a person was arrested at Birmingham Airport on Thursday evening on suspicion of terrorism offences.
His arrest is in reference to enquiries into the IRA bomb detonation in Manchester metropolis centre on June 15, 1996, the pressure stated.
The person can be interviewed by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing for the North West.
