Major supermarkets announce full closures for Queen's funeral

Main supermarkets in Ayrshire will shut their doorways for the Queen's funeral on Monday.

The state funeral of Her Majesty Elizabeth II will happen at 11am on Monday, September 19 at Westminster Abbey.

To ensure that employees to pay their respects, a variety of main supermarkets have introduced their outlets will shut fully or function on decreased hours on the day of the service.

Aldi, Lidl Sainsbury's are set to implement full closures in Ayrshire and throughout the remainder of the nation.

Whereas Tesco have confirmed that larger shops can be closed on the day of the funeral and smaller Categorical outlets will open from 5pm. Shops in central London and Windsor will stay open to permit these attending the funeral to get what they want.

On-line orders from Tesco won't be fulfilled on at the present time.

Asda and Morrisons have but to publicly state their plans.

On Twitter, Lidl mentioned: “As a mark of respect, all Aldi shops throughout the UK will shut on Monday, September 19 to permit our retailer colleagues to pay tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.”

Jason Tarry, Tesco UK CEO mentioned: “We need to specific our deepest condolences to the Royal Household, in addition to our gratitude to Her Majesty The Queen for her unwavering service. On Monday nineteenth September, to ensure that our colleagues to pay their respects, our giant shops can be closed all day and our Categorical shops will stay closed till 5pm.”

Sainsbury’s spokesperson mentioned: “We're deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"Our comfort shops and petrol filling stations can be open from 5pm-10pm to permit our clients to choose up important objects, whereas choose shops in central London will open to serve these attending the funeral in individual. We thank our clients for his or her understanding.”

Aldi tweeted: "As a mark of respect, all Aldi shops throughout the UK will shut on Monday, September 19 to permit our colleagues to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen."

Away from the supermarkets, B&Q may also shut all of their UK shops.

The DIY chain tweeted: "As a mark of respect for the State Funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and to supply our colleagues the chance to pay their respects, we've got taken the choice to shut all our UK shops on Monday, September 19."
