Headstone stolen from Edinburgh graveyard as police hunt woman with American accent

A girl with an American accent is being hunted by police following the theft of a historic gravestone from an Edinburgh graveyard.

The 'irreplaceable' gravestone was taken from Greyfriars Kirk, Candlemaker Row, between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Sunday August 21.

Police Sergeant Charlotte Crerar mentioned: "We're interesting for data following the vandalism and theft of a marble dealing with stolen from the gravestone.

"We're eager to hint a lady who was seen within the space.

"She is described as being round 5ft 6 inches tall, with crimson/ginger hair and of slim construct.

"She was sporting a striped purple and white high, black bottoms, lime inexperienced socks and trainers and spoke with an American accent.

"The gravestone is of historic significance and is irreplaceable and anybody with any data is requested to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0834 of Thursday, 25 August, 2022."
