A longtime drummer who has offered a gentle, rallying beat throughout baseball video games in Cleveland because the Seventies has been honoured with induction into the staff’s Distinguished Corridor of Fame.
The tribute is to recognise John Adams, who first toted a bass drum that he purchased at a storage sale for 25 dollars (£21) into the bleacher seats as a 21-year-old at Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium on August 24 1973.
He has attended greater than 3,700 video games whereas supporting the staff.
As a part of the tribute to Mr Adams, the membership commissioned native sculptor David Demming to craft a duplicate bronze drum affixed to a bench that may reside within the staff’s Heritage Park behind the centre subject wall at Progressive Discipline.
There may also be a plaque mounted on the wall subsequent to his seat atop the left-field bleachers.
The staff plans to point out a video tribute of Mr Adams on the ballpark’s large scoreboard throughout two upcoming video games.
Mr Adams’ well being has stored him away from the ballpark for the previous few seasons.
On the house opener in 2021, Patrick Carney, drummer for The Black Keys, the Grammy Award-winning rock duo from Akron, sat in for Mr Adams.
