An SNP councillor has been reported to the Crown Workplace after he was accused of stealing from a police station.
Allan Stubbs, who represents Coatbridge North on North Lanarkshire Council, allegedly stole property from an workplace in Motherwell the place he works.
The convener of the council’s housing committee works for Police Scotland and can also be employed part-time by Coatbridge and Chryston MSP Fulton MacGregor.
A probe was carried out by cops following an allegation with officers from the nation-wide pressure reporting the councillor to the procurator fiscal.
Stubbs informed The Instances: "I don’t know what the allegations are that you just’re speaking about. To be trustworthy my work life and my public life are very separate.
"So I don’t speak about my work to the press, I don’t speak about it as a part of my council duties. So I’m not going to speak about something to do with that, or verify or deny something.
"I can let you know categorically I'm at present sitting with my uniform on. I'm not at present suspended."
A spokesperson from Police Scotland mentioned: "Following an allegation of theft of police property from Motherwell Police Station inquiries had been carried out and a report on the circumstances has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal for consideration."
A spokesperson for the SNP mentioned: "We aren't ready to touch upon an inside Police Scotland employment situation, which we perceive entails plenty of employees."
