A Scots predator who pleaded responsible to historic assaults and sexual offences has been sentenced to 9 years behind bars. John Sinclair, aged 72, admitted to the crimes, which passed off between 1974 and 1980, within the Buchan space of Aberdeen.
Remanded in custody in July 2022, he was sentenced on the Excessive Courtroom in Aberdeen on Thursday, August 25. Detectives from Police Scotland's Nationwide Baby Abuse Investigation Unit within the North East led the investigation into the case.
Sinclair was subsequently arrested and charged on Thursday, October 3, 2019. The power is now reassuring those that had been subjected to abuse that they are going to be handled professionally and sensitively
Detective Inspector Anna Johnston mentioned: "We welcome the sentencing of John Sinclair and I want to thank the victims on this case who assisted us with our investigation. The passage of time doesn't make these incidents any simpler to speak about and their bravery is to be counseled.
“I want to take this chance to induce anybody who has or is being subjected to any type of abuse or hurt to get in contact with the police and report it.
“We deal with all experiences severely, with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity, regardless of when the offence passed off. Instances like this present that Police Scotland is set to carry the suspects of those crimes to justice.”
