Dozens of protestors descended on Ofgem's Glasgow workplace at the moment after it was introduced power payments will soar once more this October. Round 100 individuals waved placards and chanted outdoors Ofgem's Albion Avenue workplace in Commonwealth Home at 4pm on Friday to protest in opposition to the rise in value cap.
The demonstration was organised by Glaswegian stress group Energy to the People who find themselves calling for a freeze on power costs. Nicola Sturgeon has referred to as for the power value cap to be frozen, tweeting: "That is merely unaffordable for hundreds of thousands. It can't be allowed to go forward. This rise should be cancelled, with the UK gov and power corporations then agreeing a package deal to fund the price of a freeze over an extended interval, coupled with basic reform of the power market."
Glasgow councillor, Matt Kerr stated: “Make no mistake, if at the moment's announcement goes forward, it's going to plunge hundreds of thousands into gasoline poverty this winter and crash the economic system. Folks have had sufficient, and we refuse to tolerate the incompetence and indolence of our governments within the face of a disaster they've the facility to unravel.
"These in authorities have a call to make - do all of their energy to reverse this, or settle for duty for the destruction of lives that can observe. If authorities refuse to make use of their energy, the individuals will use theirs.”
MSP Paul Sweeney branded the worth hike a "humanitarian disaster" and warned individuals may freeze to loss of life this winter.
