Co-op Funeralcare employees who manufacture coffins have voted for strike motion amidst a pay dispute.

Unite the union has confirmed that its members have voted for industrial motion with an preliminary week of strike scheduled for later this month.

The unions claims the dispute is a direct results of Co-operative Funeralcare’s refusal to return to the negotiating desk following members’ rejection of "a measly three per cent" closing wage supply.

Unite members voted for motion by 96 per cent on an 86 per cent turnout.

The preliminary strike motion is scheduled to happen from Monday, August 22 and can proceed every day as much as Monday, August 29.
