Chemical tanker collides with cargo ship off Japan

A Japanese chemical tanker has collided with a cargo vessel off the coast of south-western Japan.

No-one was injured among the many six Japanese crew aboard the tanker Ryoshinmaru, or among the many 14 Chinese language crew on the Belize-registered cargo ship Xin Hai 99.

The crash early on Saturday is below investigation and each ships are anchored within the space, about 2.2 miles off the coast of Wakayama Prefecture.

A Kushimoto Coast Guard official stated some oil leaked from the engine space of the cargo ship, which initially began to sink, however it was introduced below management.

The tanker had left Kobe port to select up chemical compounds from one other Japanese port and didn't have any chemical compounds on board on the time of the accident.

Divers are being despatched to the scene and GPS information are being pursued to find out the reason for the accident.

The Chinese language crew informed the coast guard the tanker had all of a sudden veered in the direction of them, the official added.
