A Welsh councillor has been criticised for posting an image of himself holding a supposed firearm on social media whereas commenting that he was ensuring “there wasn’t any English folks making an attempt to cross the channel”.
Some politicians have referred to as for Plaid Cymru councillor Jon Scriven to be suspended over the now-deleted Fb put up which has been referred to as “xenophobic” in direction of the English.
The put up by the consultant of Penyrheol in Caerphilly stated: “Ogmore-by-Sea tonight for a fast swim and ensure there wasn’t any English folks making an attempt to cross the channel.”
Though the put up was uploaded to the platform on August 8 and later deleted, it started to be broadly shared on Monday afternoon.
Mr Scriven has now apologised for the put up, writing on Fb: “I wish to apologise for any offence brought on by my now deleted Fb put up.

Welsh Tory chief Andrew RT Davies tweeted on Monday that he was “speechless”.
“It is a Plaid Cymru councillor,” he stated. “This kind of xenophobic perspective is beneath us.”
