Man arrested in connection with death of Peter Kirkwood in Lanark

Police have arrested a 44-year-old man in reference to the loss of life of 24-year-old Peter Kirkwood.

Sources informed the File that officers had been seen on Mousebank Street in Lanark earlier on Wednesday, 4 days after Peter was pronounced lifeless on the identical road.

Cops initially arrested a 22-year-old man, however he was later launched pending additional enquiries. They now say a 44-year-old man has been detained in reference to Peter's loss of life early on Saturday July 16.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: "A 44-year-old man has been arrested in reference to the loss of life of 24-year-old Peter Kirkwood in Mousebank Street, Lanark on Saturday, 16 July. Police enquiries are persevering with."

Tributes had been left to Peter on social media by buddies in Lanark who had been left shocked and upset at his loss of life. No-one has been formally charged, however police are treating the loss of life as suspicious.

One buddy stated: "Relaxation in Peace mate. He was an important man to work with." One other stated: "Cannot imagine we aren't going to have this guys patter anymore . Rip mate." A 3rd pal described the information as "devastating".

Eyewitnesses had described seeing scene of crime officers in white overalls laying out yellow proof markers in Mousebank Street within the early hours of Saturday morning.
