Children rescued from sinking yacht on Scots coast after mayday call

Two kids had been amongst a household to be rescued from a sinking yacht on a Scots shoreline.

A mayday misery name was launched from the group, which included two adults, after the vessel received into problem within the water amid dangerous climate close to Oban, Argyll and Bute, on Monday, July 25. Lifeboat crews obtained the alarm at 2.43pm and scrambled to the scene at Bernera Bay inside minutes.

On arrival, rescue groups had been transferred onto the yacht with their salvage pump. After the water consumption was managed and the bilges of the vessel pumped, the yacht was escorted again to mainland the place it was secured by RNLI employees.

Mark Scott, Oban RNLI Coxswain, stated: "The climate was worse than forecast, however we had been in a position to shortly find the casualty vessel, and the incident was quickly resolved because of the actions of the volunteer lifeboat crew, the casualty vessel crew and the help from surrounding vessels."

The Oban lifeboat returned to station, refuelled and prepared for service at 5:45pm.
