Alexandria man to stand trial over death of motorcycle passenger on A82

An Alexandria man will stand trial after being accused of inflicting the loss of life of a motorbike passenger.

Gavin Aitken, 49, allegedly ploughed into Liam Scott, 21, and Stewart McKenzie, 23, as they rode on the A82 close to Loch Lomond.

Mr Scott died from his accidents two days after the incident, which occurred on August 31, 2020.

Court docket papers state Aitken was driving a Volkswagen Golf whereas repeatedly interacting along with his cell phone.

It's claimed he failed to keep up correct observations of the highway forward and react appropriately to the presence of different highway customers.

The cost states Aitken failed to note the black Suzuki motorcycle ridden by Mr McKenzie whereas Mr Scott was his pillion passenger.

The allegations declare Mr McKenzie slowed to make a proper flip at a junction which results in Auchenheglish Lodges in Balloch.

It's additional said that Aitken prompted his automotive to collide with the motorcycle inflicting in depth harm to each autos.

The cost goes on to say that severe harm was prompted to Mr McKenzie and Mr Scott was so severely injured that he died two days later at Queen Elizabeth College Hospital in Glasgow.

Aitken pled not responsible as we speak on the Excessive Court docket in Glasgow to inflicting loss of life and severe harm by harmful driving.

A trial was mounted for June subsequent 12 months by Choose Lord Fairley.
