Neil Doncaster welcomes SPFL 'illegal streaming' crackdown as Police Scotland make arrest

Neil Doncaster has welcomed the arrest of a person accused of streaming SPFL matches illegally.

Police Scotland arrested a 49-year-old man in linked with the unlawful streaming, charging him below the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

And the SPFL chief has spoken out in assist of the crackdown.

Police carried out a search of a property in Easterhouse after acquiring a warrant.

A report has since been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Following the information, Doncaster stated: “We welcome the motion taken by Police Scotland, and are vastly supportive of their efforts to deal with unlawful streaming.

“We’ve simply seen the conclusion of one other thrilling season, and as we sit up for the 2022/23 marketing campaign it’s necessary that we do every thing we are able to to guard clients who put money into authentic subscriptions and assist the foremost funding which Sky, our broadcast companions, are placing into the sport.”

Subsequent season's SPFL Scottish Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two fixtures will likely be introduced on Friday, 17 June at 9am.
