Formulation 1 has slammed three-time world champion Nelson Piquet after he used a racially offensive time period whereas referring to Lewis Hamilton. Piquet made the remarks whereas talking about Hamilton's win on the British Grand Prix in 2021 on a Brazilian podcast.
Through the race, Hamilton was concerned in an incident with Max Verstappen on the opening lap, with Vertstappen crashing out after making contact along with his rival's automotive. Hamilton went on to win the race and Piquet twice used a racist time period, which is Brazilian slang for the N-word, to explain the Brit when talking to the Brazilian publication Estadao.
In a video launched on June 27, Piquet mentioned: "The n******* put the automotive within the incorrect manner and did not let [the other driver swerve]. The n******* put the automotive within the incorrect manner on the nook, it is since you don’t know the curve.
"It is a very excessive curve, there is no such thing as a solution to cross two automobiles and there is not any manner you may put the automotive apart. He did [Verstappen] soiled. His luck was that solely the opposite one was gone", The Mirror experiences.
In a press release, F1 mentioned: "Discriminatory or racist language is unacceptable in any kind and has no half in society. Lewis is an unbelievable ambassador for our sport and deserves respect. His tireless efforts to extend variety and inclusion are a lesson to many and one thing we're dedicated to at F1."
Hamilton additionally addressed the Piquet's feedback on social media, tweeting: "It is greater than language. These archaic mindsets want to vary and haven't any place in our sport.
"I have been surrounded by these attitudes and focused my complete life. There was loads of time to be taught. Time has come for motion."
He additionally posted a message in Portuguese which interprets to "Let's give attention to altering the mindset" and wrote "Think about" when responding to a fan who had tweeted: "What if Lewis Hamilton simply tweeted 'Who the f*** is Nelson Piquet?' then closed Twitter".
