Helicopter and lifeboat crews moved in to rescue two children who drifted out to sea on an inflatable kayak.
Coastguard and RNLI groups scrambled to the incident on the Moray Firth at 3.27pm yesterday.
The alarm had been raised by a involved grownup on the shoreline of Portsoy.
RNLI stated that an offshore breeze had pushed the youths - a boy and a lady - out to sea, the place they had been left unable to get again to shore.
