Glasgow tenement fire being treated as 'deliberate' by police

A hearth that broke up out in a tenement in Glasgow within the early hours is being handled as 'deliberate'.

We reported earlier that the Scottish Fireplace and Rescue Service have been referred to as out to Comelypark Avenue within the east finish of town at round 2:30am on Monday.

A hearth was discovered within the first flooring flat of a two storey tenement, fortunately no casualties have been reported.

Now police have confirmed that the incident is being handled as 'wilful'.

Enquiries into the fireplace are ongoing and officers have urged those that many have info to return ahead.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman advised Glasgow Reside : “At round 2.45am on Monday, June 20 police have been referred to as to a report of a hearth at a block of flats in Comelypark Avenue, Glasgow.

"Enquiries are ongoing and officers are presently treating the fireplace as wilful."
