Crews battling to control wildfire 20 hours after blaze takes hold in Scots woodland

An enormous wildfire has been raging in Moray for over 20 hours sparking an emergency response.

Mercy crews raced to the scene close to Ordiequish Street in Fochabers after the alarm was raised shortly after 11.30am on Monday morning.

The inferno is affecting an space of forestry close to the street, with hero firefighters nonetheless working to battle the ferocious blaze.

Crews from Fochabers, Rothes and Keith have been on web site, and a ship workforce and helicopters have been deployed in a bid to extinguish the worst of the flames and ferry staff over to the world.

Knapsacks, beaters and water carriers have been used all through the day, with the fireplace protecting round 50 acres of land.

Pictures taken on the scene present a piece of the woodland being engulfed in livid orange flames, whereas gray smoke billows throughout the village.

Earth and bushes additionally seem to have been badly charred.

Scottish Hearth and Rescue Service have confirmed to the Document on Tuesday morning that two home equipment stay in attendance.

Crews left the scene for a short time at round 1.50am throughout dusk and have been again to dampen down hotspots at 5am.

"Crews have come from Fochabers and the encompassing areas together with Buckie, Dufftown and Elgin.

"There are not any reported accidents."

A spokesperson for Fochabers Hearth Station mentioned: "Crew have been referred to as out this morning at 11.34am to studies of a hearth in woodland beside Ordiquish Earth pillars view level.

"On arrival CC Smith made a rapid determination to redeploy to the opposite facet of the Spey and the crew made their technique to Beat 3 beside Burnside of Dipple Farm.

"Unable to entry the fireplace and with the fireplace taking maintain, CC Smith requested further assets, the SRT groups from Elgin and Inverness have been deployed and attended together with a helicopter to water bomb the world.

"Crew have been relieved at 4pm and crews stay on scene and can do for someday to ensure the fireplace is absolutely extinguished."
