Sanquhar Rangers fan saves life of Dutch tourist in Seville

A retired Sanquhar firefighter helped to avoid wasting a Dutch vacationer’s life when he took sick within the Spanish metropolis of Seville.

Rangers fan Ian Johnson leapt into motion and carried out CPR when an aged man turned unwell on a sightseeing bus the day after the Europa League ultimate.

The 56-year-old and his buddy Craig Moore, a serving firefighter, have been on a tour of the town when the incident occurred.

Ian informed the Commonplace: “I may see this man was struggling a wee bit and his spouse was shouting for a medic.

“There was a little bit of a language barrier however I may perceive what was happening.

“He had a digital camera round him and a hat on and I received them off and took management of the scenario.

“I retired from the fireplace service in March so I’ve been educated in CPR.

“The bus was nonetheless shifting at this level however Craig received it stopped.

“I assumed the man was going to go as a result of he was foaming on the mouth.”

Ian added: “I lifted his arm and it was flapping down. He was unresponsive. I gave him a few compressions and he sparked into life.

“I don’t suppose it was a coronary heart assault I feel he had one thing like low blood strain.

“We saved him down and an ambulance took him away on the subsequent cease. I’m hoping he’s okay and received dwelling. His spouse saved cuddling me as they received off the bus.”

Ian, who was a watch commander in Sanquhar for 10 years and spent 23 with the fireplace service, believes everybody needs to be educated within the life-saving approach.
