The jury has retired to think about its verdict within the trial of a former SNP MP accused of embezzling greater than £25,000 from two pro-independence teams.
Sheriff Tom Hughes informed jurors to disregard the publicity the trial of Natalie McGarry has attracted and focus solely on the proof introduced to Glasgow Sheriff Court docket.
McGarry, 40, is accused of embezzling £21,000 whereas treasurer of Girls for Independence between April 26, 2013 and November 30, 2015.
The ex-Glasgow East MP can also be accused of taking £4,661 between April 9, 2014 and August 10, 2015 when she was treasurer, secretary and convener of the Glasgow Regional Affiliation of the SNP.
Addressing the 14 jurors, Mr Hughes mentioned: “Keep in mind that you've taken an oath or affirmation. This requires you to base any verdict solely on proof that you've heard on this courtroom.
“You promised to return a real verdict in accordance with the proof.
“You will need to overlook something you heard on TV, radio or learn in a newspaper, something you've got learn in regards to the accused.
“You, girls and gents, are in a privileged place. You could have been capable of sit and hearken to all the proof. It's now so that you can take into account.”
Jurors have been informed that with a purpose to convict McGarry, they must be assured past cheap doubt that the funds have been misappropriated and used dishonestly.
McGarry, of Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, denies each costs in opposition to her.
