Missing Glasgow girl, 12, found 10 miles from home with mystery girl as frantic mum 'feared the worst'

A lacking schoolgirl has been discovered virtually 10 miles from her dwelling after her frantic mum "feared the worst".

We informed how Abigail Redmond, 12, vanished from her college, St Andrew’s Secondary in Glasgow's East Finish, at 11.30am on Monday.

The Easterhouse schoolgirl's panic-stricken mum, Lisa Carruthers, referred to as police at round 6pm on Monday, having not seen or heard from Abigail in virtually seven hours.

Police on Tuesday morning confirmed a search was underway amid a string of determined on-line appeals from locals.

Just a few hours later, a "relieved" Lisa informed the Report that Abigail had been discovered virtually 10 miles from dwelling, in Glasgow's Govanhill.

She believes Abigail travelled from the East Finish to the South Facet with "an older woman not recognized to the household", sparking worry amongst family members.

Whereas "grateful" that her daughter was traced, Lisa awaits Abigail's return dwelling as she mirrored on what was a "terrifying" time for the household.

She mentioned: "Police have simply informed us that they've discovered Abigail someplace in Govanhill. She travelled there with an older woman final night time, who we do not know.

"I am so relived. Abigail by no means does something like this, we actually feared the worst it was terrifying."

She added: "We're so grateful to be getting her dwelling, I am unable to wait to see her.

"I do not know the small print of what is occurred so I simply need to know that she is secure. This might have been lots worse."

Beforehand, the distressed mum had taken to social media to share plenty of social media appeals in a bid to deliver her daughter dwelling.

She wrote on Monday: "Has anybody seen my daughter Abigail Redmond? She has been lacking from college since 11.30am we're fearful sick."

Hours later Lisa appealed on to Abigail promising "huge hugs" for the then-missing schoolgirl.
