Man dies after being struck by lorry near Scots golf course as road shut for 9 hours

A person has died after being struck by a lorry close to a Scots golf course.

He had been strolling alongside Birnie Highway in Elgin, Moray, at 10am on Tuesday, when he was hit by the HGV.

Emergency companies raced to the crash web site however the 42-year-old was tragically pronounced lifeless on the scene.

The highway was closed for over 9 hours whereas police enquiries into the deadly smash had been carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesperson mentioned: " Officers obtained report of a crash involving a HGV and a pedestrian on an unclassified highway, identified regionally as Birnie Highway, in Elgin which was reported round 10am on Tuesday, April 26.

“Emergency companies attended and a 42-year-old man, the pedestrian, was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

“The highway adjoining to the golf course was closed for greater than 9 hours whereas enquiries into the crash had been carried out.”
