The attractive blooms on Moat Brae have been praised by locals and guests alike for brightening up the city firstly of spring.

However over the weekend the flowers have been flattened in what has been described as a “despicable” act.

Summer time Festivities chairman John Blaikie stated: “The entire city is offended about it.
