Hundreds of fish found dead in Glasgow loch as SEPA launch investigation

An investigation has been launched after round 200 fish had been discovered lifeless in a Glasgow loch.

Environmental company SEPA stepped in after locals discovered numerous lifeless fish in Hogganfield Loch on Thursday.

Up to now it is believed that the lifeless fish have come from a culvert that flows in to the loch from Frankfield Loch close by, Glasgow Reside reviews.

It is understood the lifeless fish are of the Frequent roach species.

SEPA is at present investigating the incident whereas Glasgow Metropolis Council it is going to assist with investigations.

A spokesperson for the council advised Glasgow Reside: "We're involved concerning the circumstances which have led to numerous fish being discovered lifeless in Hogganfield Loch.

"The environmental safety company SEPA is investigating this incident and we are going to do what we will to assist them.
