Biker airlifted to hospital after smash on Scots motorway as drivers urged to stay away

A bike rider has been airlifted to hospital following a collision on a Scots motorway close to Dunfermline.

The crash, at round 12.40pm on Sunday, led to police closing the M90 in each instructions at Halbeath.

Motorists had been inspired to hunt various routes after the smash created prolonged queues in the direction of central Fife and Edinburgh.

Photos shared on social media confirmed police automobiles parking throughout the street to dam visitors whereas they attended to the injured biker.

Witnesses stated an air ambulance landed close by to move a casualty to hospital for therapy, since confirmed by police.

The rider was taken by helicopter to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Their present situation is unknown.

The northbound street re-opened shortly after 2pm whereas one lane of the southbound route re-opened at round 2.20pm.

Each roads had been totally opened by 2.40pm - however a lane of the northbound motorway has since been closed off in an unrelated incident involving a broken-down bus.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: "Round 12.40pm on Sunday, 17 April, police had been referred to as to a report of a street crash involving a bike on the M90 southbound between junction 3-4 at Halbeath.

"Officers attended and the motorcyclist was taken by Air Ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh."
