Youngest Scot to fight in Falklands War battles PTSD hell to support other veterans

David Cruickshanks was the youngest Scot despatched to combat within the 1982 conflict, aged simply 17.

Nearly a decade in the past courageous David revisited the Falkland Islands to heal previous emotional conflict wounds.

He mentioned: "The journey again was therapeutic. I now see it with completely different eyes, it would not carry the scars of battle.

"I returned to San Carlos Bay which we used to name 'Bomb Alley' now to me it is a peaceable inlet. I acquired actual closure which has helped me mentally through the years."

Six months in the past, David took on a task as a peer assist employee for Veterans First Level.

Based mostly at King's Cross Hospital in Dundee, David is totally settled into his position which is 'essentially the most rewarding job he is ever accomplished'.
