Tributes have poured in for a former Aberdeen Metropolis Council chief and LGBTQ activist following his loss of life at 49.
John Stewart, from Kilmarnock, sadly handed away on Saturday after a courageous battle with most cancers.
Mr Stewart, who was one of many first to wed in Scotland when civil partnerships grew to become legislation in 2005, was initially elected as a Liberal Democrat councillor for Berryden in 2003.
He was re-elected in 2007 and later went on to reign because the native authority's chief.
After stepping down from his function within the North of Scotland, he went on to maneuver to Manchester along with his husband, Neil Fletcher, the place he later grew to become famend for his function as town's Satisfaction chief government.
